A nice little speculative office campus begun by remodeling a vacant mechanic’s garage. The unique feature of the campus is a retired Frisco caboose parked at the back of the campus which happens to abut a railroad yard.

Restaurant Mezzanine
Another departure from my usual emphasis – a restaurant crafted from former nightclub space in a shopping center. The existing mezzanine was structurally sound, but left a very dark corridor beneath along a party wall. My design proposal was to cut a couple of openings that would surround low hanging chandeliers to provide lighting to […]
Office Building
As the yard sign indicates, this is the headquarters of the American Family Association, a para-church citizens action group. The rest of the multi-phase campus is pretty much a continuation of simulated stone veneer and metal mansard visible here. The novelty for me in this effort is that that facilities contain the only radio broadcast […]
Church Project
This two-phase facility was built to replace original building lost in a fire across the street. Phase I is the smaller building at right. When the two phases were completed, the steeple salvaged from the original building was perched atop a connecting tower between the buildings. I heard the alley between the buildings humorously referred […]
Sanctuary Addition to Church
I guess this effort would technically be called a replacement of the smaller worship annex, while the original activities building remains at rear. The construction was a two-phased effort, with the front half of the new building finished first. After the congregation had moved into the new sanctuary, the original worship annex that had been […]
Horse Barn
My only equestrian commission so far. Large metal pole barn with raised center ridge was located on the site of a former barn to keep company with the concrete silo that remains from earlier days.
Sanctuary Addition
Before and after scanned photos from the album of a sanctuary addition project. A brick gable was added to the original building behind to compliment the port on the new addition.
Historic Preservation
Some scanned photos from the album of my ancestral farmstead in Illinois. My father and I worked to restore the front of the home to match the oldest extant photo from c.1895. We found the original working shutters stored in the attic. I wrote a successful nomination to get the property listed on the National […]
Grocery Store
My only grocery store project. I designed the outside with a pair of New England style bricked entry gables to add interest to an otherwise uneventful porch while a corporate office in Oklahoma handled the inside plan.
Church Project
This is a prototype ‘mission church,’ built by volunteer labor in approximately three weeks. Front of floor plan has central entry foyer flanked by restrooms and classrooms/offices. Behind the sanctuary is small fellowship hall with compact kitchen and storage. Since there was no room on site to expand this building, the congregation moved locations and […]
