Gilmore Foundation Conference Center, Amory, MS
I’m fascinated by sunsets and the challenge the issue to an artist to capture on paper or canvas. This view down Gilmore Drive toward the setting sun shows another subject of mine in the distance – the Wright Log Cabin. Between the cabin and the subject building is the Frisco Pasadena Hills railroad passenger car.
This conference center was built from proceeds of the sale of the local hospital to an out-of-state holding group. I think the style of the building is a beautiful compliment to the historic buildings of the community. I was particularly impressed while photographing sunsets at the location that enhanced the glitter of the strands of miniature electric lights that adorn the front yard at Christmas time. Since our area seldom gets any significant snowfall, the holiday decorations have to do the best they can on their own.
