This retired steam locomotive is parked in Frisco Park near the city hall in Amory, Mississippi. This engine’s greatest claim to fame came when it pulled a train of 14 cars through Amory, one of which held as passengers President Franklin D. Roosevelt and his wife Eleanor, who were en route to Tupelo for a TVA commemorative celebration. In addition, No. 1529 was the first to pull a passenger train from Birmingham, Alabama to Springfield, Missouri through Amory. It was the last passenger locomotive to make a Frisco run when the diesel took over the duties. The locomotive ws presented to the City of Amory in 1953.
