This sanctuary addition was phase two for this church client, adding this stand-alone unit in front of the phase one activities building. The buildings are separated by a service drive that is covered by a canopy to permit sheltered pedestrian transition between buildings. Since the structure of the building would not support at steeple on top, it is itself a stand-alone element with a sidewalk going through it. An interesting result of a committee working with volunteer help is the eight-sided fiberglass spire perched atop a six-sided brick tower.
I took this picture during church one evening just as a thunderstorm had passed. During this same evening, I photographed the drug store I had designed a few blocks away which is featured on the slide show on the home page.
