This is something you’ll not likely find elsewhere – an advertising sign with a random arrangement vehicles of different model years. The background is based on an actual location along interstate 74 in northwestern Illinois between Peoria and the Quad Cities. The green Chevy II station wagon was a vehicle I owned at the time. I had purchased it for $250 and restored it (in amateur fashion at best) with my brother. I drove it for eight years, making several trips that spanned the distance from Minnesota to Illinois and even finally to Mississippi, where I ended up selling it for $300. The buyer drove it back to Wisconsin to dismantle and reincarnate into another Chevy II restoration – professional this time. The other cars represent scale models in my collection of 150+ replicas. The panel measures approximately 6′ wide x 3′ high, and was sheeting originally used to wrap wire coil for shipping. I worked on-and-off on this effort for about nine months. I still have another blank panel de-rusted and undercoated, waiting for another inspiration. Any suggestions out there? Another view of this work with more context may be seen on my Facebook/JHW Studio page.
